BKMEA’s order to shut knitwear factories

Live Correspondent: To prevent deadly coronavirus outbreak in the country Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) has directed to shut the knitwear factories across the country.

The direction came through a notice served by BKMEA president AKM Selim Osman, MP. The direction said, in this moment all of our aim is to save the country and its people from the harmful effect of coronavirus.

Industries of the country will survive if people survive and if the industries survive then the country will be prosperous. For this reason the government has shutdown all institutions. In a letter issued on March 25 direction was given to shut the factories until April 4.

The direction said, to protect the export oriented industries from the economic recession the Prime Minister has announced huge incentive package. Besides, other facilities through Bangladesh Bank have been offered.

In this situation to save the country and people the decision has been taken to shut all the knitwear factories until April 4.

The directions also said, during this break period the workers should live where they are staying at the moment. The authority should make them understand as this is not a vacation or festival.
