Govt decides to fix fee for participation of foreign artists in local ads

Live Correspondent: The government has decided to enforce the fee of Taka 200,000 per foreign artist for making local advertisements with foreign artists and a one-time government fee of Tk 20,000 per advertisement for TV channels while airing such advertisements.

The information was revealed in the meeting room of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at the secretariat here this evening with Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud in the chair, a press release said. The representatives of concerned advertisers or advertisement-makers were present on the occasion.

State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Md Murad Hassan and Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Md Mokbul Hossain also attended it.

According to the revised policy on participation of foreign artists in the advertisement of local products on May 31, foreign artists can participate in the advertisement of domestic products with the permission of the government through an application to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting was told.

In this case, there is a provision where the producer will have to pay Taka two lakh per foreign artist, and TV channels will have to pay a one-time fee of Tk twenty thousand per advertisement in the government treasury during the air of such advertisements.

With the cooperation of all stakeholders, this provision will bring welfare and development for the country and the country's artists and advertising industry said Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud in the meeting.

Asaduzzaman Noor, MP, Managing Director of Digital Expressions Syed Ahsanul Apan, United Limited Managing Director Muneer Ahmed Khan, and MATTER Managing Partner Sanaul Arefeen, among others, welcomed the government's decision and expressed their satisfaction over it.

Director General (DG) of the state-run Bangladesh Television (BTV) Sohrab Hossain, Additional secretaries of the Information and Broadcasting ministry Md Mizan Ul Alam and Khadija Begum, Bangladesh Film Development Corporation  (BFDC) Managing Director Nuzhat Yasmin and Director General of Department of Films and Publications (DFP)S M Golam Kibria were also present.
