Live Correspondent: The first phase of recruitment tests for 45,000 assistant teachers in government primary schools will begin tomorrow. In the first phase, examinations will be held in 22 districts tomorrow, second phase in 30 districts on May 20 and third phase in 31 districts.

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Zakir Hossain disclosed the information at a press conference at the ministry's meeting room at the Secretariat today. He said the examinations will be held in the respective districts of the applicants between 11 am and 12noon.

A total of 13,09,461 candidates will take part in this year's recruitment test for assistant teachers. The written examinations will be arranged in three phases at 1,811 centers in 61 districts (excluding the three districts of Chittagong Hill Tracts).
Responding to a question of journalists, Zakir Hossain said the government will take decision later whether primary education completion (PEC) and Ebtedayi examination will be held or not from the next year.

Primary and Mass Education Secretary Md Aminul Islam Khan and Directorate of Primary Education Director General Alamgir Muhammad Mansurul Alam were present on the occasion, among others. On October 20 in 2020, the Department of Primary Education published a circular for recruitment of assistant teachers in 32,577 vacant posts. But it was not possible to hold the tests in view of coronavirus outbreak.

Meantime, over 10,000 posts of assistant teachers fell vacant due to retirement of teachers. The ministry decided to recruit assistant teachers in 45,000 posts merging those posts which fell vacant after issuance of the circular.
