On October 20 in 2020, the Department of Primary Education published a circular for recruitment of assistant teachers in 32,577 vacant posts. But it was not possible to hold the tests in view of coronavirus outbreak.

Meantime, over 10,000 posts of assistant teachers fell vacant due to retirement of teachers. The ministry decided to recruit assistant teachers in 45,000 posts merging those posts which fell vacant after issuance of the circular.
