CPB leader Morshed Ali passes away

Live Correspondent: Morshed played an important role in the six-point movement, the 1969 mass uprising and the Liberation War. Freedom fighter Morshed Ali, former Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) general secretary passed away at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital in Dhaka on Wednesday morning.

Morshed, 78, also a control commission member of the Communist Party of Bangladesh, had a brain stroke and was admitted to BIRDEM hospital first. Later, he was put on life support at BSMMU hospital several times, reports media.

He left behind his wife, a daughter, and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Morshed Ali.

In a condolence message, he prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Besides, in a separate condolence message, Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman also condoled the death of Morshed Ali and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Morshed played an important role as a leading figure as a part of the Communist Party till 1999.

He also actively participated in the six-point movement, the 1969 mass uprising and the Liberation War.
