RMG workers can return to Dhaka by bus, launch till Sunday noon

Live Correspondent: The government has given permission to resume launch and bus services across the country for a temporary period of time in the interest of the factory workers to facilitate their arrival in Dhaka.

 
The matter was confirmed through a handout on Saturday night. t said the government has decided to keep public transport open till 12 noon on August 1 to facilitate the return of workers and concerned of export-oriented industries in Dhaka.
 
Meanwhile, all passenger vessels including launches have been launched for the workers. BIWTA Public Relations Officer Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said that it has been decided to operate passenger launches across the country till 12 noon on Sunday. 
 
“Factories will reopen from August 1. Therefore, considering the movement of the workers, it has been decided to resume the launch operation,” he added.
 
Earlier on Friday, at the request of the owners of garment factories, the government gave permission to start the factories from Sunday. After that, the workers left for Dhaka from different parts of the country. As public transport is closed, they are trying to reach Dhaka by any means.
 
Workers crammed into bus-trucks without heeding health rules and risked their lives to get to the roof to reach their work places in Dhaka. The upazila administration and the police are struggling to cope with the lockdown rules.
