Feni SP closed for negligence in duty

Live Corrrespondent: Superintendent of Police (SP) in Feni SM Jahangir Alam Sarkar has been closed for neglecting his duty in connection with the murder of Nusrat Jahan Rafi.

“SM Jahangir Alam was attached to police headquarters,” Sohel Rana Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of police headquarters confirmed the matter to Banglanews on Sunday (May 12).

According to police headquarters, action has been taken as per recommendations based on the report of investigation committee of police headquarters, which was formed over Nusrat murder. Four police officials have been attached to different places.

Sohel Rana said, “Following suspension, the accused police officials have been attached to remote units. Attachment is not transfer, rather a punitive action. During attachment, no tasks are given.”

Nusrat Jahan Rafi, a female student of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa in Sonagazi upazila, was set on fire by some masked men at her madrasa exam center on April 6. She succumbed to her burn injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on April 10. Nusrat Jahan Rafi was buried at a social graveyard in Feni around 6 pm on April 11.
