MC College dorm gang-rape: Four more accused held

The arrestees are Rony, Rabiul Hasan, Rajon and Ainul. Of them, the former two are FIR-named accused.

Police said Rony was arrested from a house in Shayestaganj of Habiganj while Rabiul from Nabiganj of the district on Sunday night.

Besides, members of Rapid Action Battalion arrested Rajon and Ainul from Fenchuganj of Sylhet on Monday morning. With this, six accused have so far been arrested over the gang-rape.

Earlier, Saifur Rahman, the prime accused in the case, and Arjun Laskar, No. 4 accused, were arrested in the case.

A group of leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League reportedly gang-raped the young woman after confining her husband to a room of MC College hostel in Sylhet on Friday night.

The victim’s husband filed a case with Shah Poran Police Station against six accused.

Sources said the young couple went to visit the MC College campus in the evening when a group of BCL men picked them up and took them to the hostel.

They confined the victim’s husband to a room and raped her in turns in another room. On information, police rescued the couple around 11pm.
