Live Correspondent: Former state minister Sohel Taj’s nephew, Syed Iftekhar Alam Sourav, has been rescued by police from Tarakanda upazila of Mymensingh, 11 days after he was abducted in Chittagong. He was rescued in the Batala Bazar area of the upazila around 5:30am on Thursday.

Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Tarakanda police station, said the criminals left Sourav, 25, in front of Jamil Auto Rice Mill.

Upon receiving information, police went to the spot and rescued him. The OC said that Sourav is doing well now, police said.

The police official continued: “Sourav is in the custody of the district superintendent of police. We will hand him over to his family after a routine interrogation and completing some legal procedures.”
