Actress Eka arrested, yaba pills, liquour seized

 

Entertainment Live: Dhallywood actress Eka was arrested on Saturday afternoon on charge of torturing her maid from her residence in the capital. After the arrest, she was taken to Hatirjheel Police Station in the capital. Police said they seized yaba pills and foreign liquor from Eka's residence.

Hatirjheel Police Station inspector (Operations) Golam Azam said maid Hazera Begum used to work 'part-time' at actress Eka's apartment on the 8th floor of 'Bandhu Nibash' at Hatirjheel. The main was tortured by the actress. The 30-year-old maid later called on National Emergency Services at 999.

"We first rescued the torture victim maid. Besides, acress Eka was arrested and brought at police station. The victim was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital fro treatment. There are marks of injury on the head and hands of the maid," he said.

Husband of the injured maid said his wife Hazera had been working as a part-timer at the actress' apartment over the last three months. Eka was changing her apartment at the building on Saturday. So, she asked Hazera to remain with her. But, Hezera said she had to go to work at another apartment. In reply, Eka asked the maid not to work at her apartment. When the maid wanted her salary, the actress allegedly got furious and injured her beating.

It may be mentioned that apart from working in films and television dramas, actress Eka worked as a model in advertisements. She first entered Dhallywood through 'Rangin Rakhal Raja' directed by Tozammel Huq Bakul. She got huge popularity working in two films 'Dhar' and 'Teji' released in 1999. Late Manna was her hero in both the movies.

Later, she acted in several successful movies working with Rubel, Amin Khan, Alexander Bo, Amit Hasan and Sakib Khan. She was last seen in the movie 'Bahadur Santan' in 2008. She acted in more than 30 movies.
