Live Correspondent: Six persons have been arrested on charge of theft of gold, silver, and cash from a flat at Khilkhet in the capital.

The Detective Branch (DB) arrested them from Tantibazar, Pallabi in the capital, and Tongi in Gazipur.

The arrested are Jabbar Molla, Jamal Sikder, Md Abul, Azimuddin, Anwar Hossain, and Abdul Wahab.

About 9 stories of gold, 82 bhories of silver, and Tk 17 lakh in cash were recovered from the ring.

About 42 bhoris of gold and US dollars were stolen from a house of a doctor couple at Nikunj-2 of Khilkhet on August 17.

Detective Branch (DB) of police disclosed this at a press conference held at the DMP Media Centre in the capital on Sunday (October 9, 2022).

Addressing the press conference, DB's additional commissioner Harun-ar-Rashid said they arrested six persons on the charge of theft of gold, silver, and cash from a Khilkhet flat in the capital.

Responding to another question about the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) criticism of a recent raid on a bar operating in the name of a restaurant at Uttara in the capital, Harun-ar-Rashid said the police could raid any place having the presence of drugs and immoral activities.

An illegal bar — operated in the name of a restaurant — was unearthed in the city's Uttara and 35 people serving the bar were arrested early Friday in a raid conducted by the DB.

About 500 bottles of liquor and more than 6,000 cans of beer were seized from Kingfisher Restaurant at Uttara Sector-13.

The DNC officials, however, said the raid was not justified as Kingfisher Restaurant was operating a business under license..

The Narcotics Control Act has clearly stipulated who can conduct raids against drugs, the DB chief said.

The police can raid anywhere if there is the presence of drugs and immoral activities, he said.

Harun also advised people to ask for the identity cards of those who conduct raids introducing themselves as detectives.

The DB members got new jackets with modern security features, including quick response codes with identities and confidential numbers of the DB, he said.

He made the remarks on the backdrop of recent allegations of abduction by people introducing themselves as detectives at Jatrabari and Uttara in the capital. Harun said the DB didn't conduct any such raids.
