Students of 3 colleges clash at Science Lab area

 

Live Correspondent: Students of three colleges--Dhaka College, Ideal College, and Dhaka City College-- locked in a clash on early Sunday afternoon over establishing supremacy at the Science Laboratory area.

The clash broke out around 12:45 pm that lasted till 2:15 pm.

Movement of motor vehicles on Elephant Road to Shahbagh and Science Lab to Azimpur came to a halt during the clash.

New Market Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Shafiqul Ghani Sabu said police have been deployed in the area.

Witnesses said the students of Ideal College, City College, and Dhaka College were locked in a violent clash early in the afternoon. A series of chases and counter-chase took place among the students. Following the clash, plying of vehicles on Green Road to Farmgate remained suspended.

New Market Zone assistant police commissioner Shahen Shah said, "It could not be known why the students of three colleges locked in chase and counter-chase and then clash.

However, it is learned that the clash originated over pelting stones on a bus of Ideal College. We are on the field to avert further clash." Some students were injured in the incident.
