'DU halls vacate by Friday evening'

Live Correspondent: To curb Covid-19 spread inside the DU campus. So, all residential students of Dhaka University have been asked to vacate the halls by Friday evening.

Meeting sources said:- The decision was made at a meeting of the syndicate, the highest governing body of the university, with DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.

The university authorities also extended the period of suspension of classes and exams from March 28 to 31.

A five-member ‘corona response committee’, led by Dr Shahriar Nabi, Dean of Medicine faculty of DU and Associate Professor of Radiology and Imaging department of Dhaka Medical College, has been formed.

The syndicate also asked the DU officials to limit their works and permitted them to perform their duties from home.

Earlier on Tuesday, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) decided to shut down its dormitories from Wednesday to curtail the Covid-19 spread.
