JU Live: The teachers of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have decided to donated their two-day salaries to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund amid the worldwide shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"This decision to donate two-day salaries was taken through an executive meeting of Jahangirnagar University Teachers' Association (JUTA) today," said JUTA president Professor A A Mamun, according to JU correspondent.

"Staying homes, a large number of people across the country have become unemployed as their workplaces are closed due to shutdown.

We want to stand beside those marginalised people. So, we have decided to donate two-day salaries for them," he added.

Earlier, on Saturday JU Officers Association decided to donate their one-day salaries to Prime Minister’s relief fund.
