Former JU teacher Dr Manzur Ahsan passes away

JU Live: Former Professor of History department at Jahangirnagar University Dr Manzur Ahsan passed away on Wednesday noon at a hospital in the capital Dhaka following prolonged illness. He was 70.He left behind his wife, a son, a daughter, a host of relatives, well wishers and admirers to mourn his death.

Professor Manzur retired from teaching profession at Jahangirnagar University on June 29, 2016. He was buried at Uttara Sector-12 Graveyard on Wednesday afternoon.

JU Vice-chancellor Professor Farzana Islam expressed profound shock at the death of Manzur Ahsan.In a condolence message, the VC said, "With the death of professor Manzur Ahsan, the nation lost a prominent historian. He was a role model to the students and teachers for his dedication to teaching and research."

“He would be remembered for her outstanding research activities in the field of history”, she added.Dr Farzana prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Besides, Jahangirnagar University Teachers' Association (JUTA) expressed deep shock at the death of Professor Dr Manzur Ahsan.
