CIMPA Representatives meet DU VC

DU Live: Five Representatives of International Center for Pure and Applied Mathematics (CIMPA) led by Prof. Dr. Renaud Leplaideur called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman today June 13, 2019 at the latter’s office of the university.

Other Representatives of CIMPA were Prof. Dr. Lidia Fernandez Rodriguez, Prof. Nicolas Bedaride, Prof. Isabel Rios and Prof. Sylvain Mousset.      Chairman of the Department of Mathematics of DU Prof. Dr Amal Krishna Halder, Prof. Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam and Prof. Dr. Chandra Nath Podder of the same department were present on this occasion.

During the meeting they discussed the possibilities of strengthening ongoing joint collaborative academic and research programs on mathematics between the University of Dhaka and CIMPA.

DU VC stressed the need for undertaking more joint collaborative academic and research programs among Dhaka University and other renowned universities and research institutions around the world to enhance quality of education and research.

It may be mentioned that CIMPA is an association of France, Switzerland, Spain and Norway.  It was founded in 1978 in France to develop and conduct research on mathematics in developing countries.

The CIMPA Representatives are now on a visit to Bangladesh to attend a 12-day long international workshop titled “Research School on Dynamical Systems and its Applications to Biology” at AF Mujibur Rahman Ganit Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU). The Department of Mathematics of DU,

International Center for Pure and Applied Mathematics (CIMPA) and AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation have jointly organized this event. This workshop will be concluded on June 21, 2019.
