National Career Fair begins to hunt graduates
Live Correspondent: A two-day national career fair began today in the capital with the participation of more than 100 renowned public and private organizations including multi-national companies, corporate entities, development and government organizations to make a bridge between employers and job seekers.
The BRAC University organized the fair titled ”NRB Jobs Presents National Career Fair-2019” under the theme of ”Campus to Corporate” at Carnival, Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) Agargaon here.
Foreign Minister Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen, MP inaugurated the fair as the chief guest while BRAC University Vice Chancellor Professor Vincent Chang was in the chair.
FBCCI Director Amzad Hossain presented a keynote paper titled ”Youth Powerhouse: The key to be a developed nation” at the opening ceremony that was also addressed by General Secretary of Bangladesh Economic Association (BEA) DR Jamaluddin Ahmed, BRAC University Director Student Affairs Dilara Afroz Khan Rupa and NRB Jobs BD’s MD and CEO Mahbube Elahi Chowdhury.
The Foreign Minister said the government has taken an initiative to create 1.5 crore jobs in next five years, 30 lakhs for every year, to ensure employment of the country’s every eligible youth.
“It’s a huge challenge … but the government is trying hard to create the jobs,” he said adding that the under construction 100 economic zones across the country will create huge opportunities for job seekers.
“I would like to see out graduates will also contribute in the global economy,” he added. The objective of the fair is to provide a platform to all graduating and already graduated students from both public and private universities and colleges to connect with the country’s leading employers from different sectors and match their career of interest.
