Fire breaks out at DU central library

DU Live: A fire broke out at Dhaka University (DU) Central Library today, but no casualties were reported. Firefighters rushed to douse the fire after being informed immediately that broke out from an electric short circuit at around 10:00 am in the morning.

The Library has been closed for undefined time, said Liberian Professor Jabed Ahmed. DU Pro-VC (administration) Dr. Muhammad Samad, university proctor Dr. AKM Golam Rabbani visited the spot after being informed.

DU Proctor Golam Rabbani told BSS, “Firefighters called instantly after fire broke out and they doused the fire soon, deplorable losses could be if they fail to bring it under control instantly.”

The library now has around seven lakh books and journals and it has around thirty thousand rare manuscripts.
