Tureen Afroz gets TOP 50 Women in Education Leader award

Live Correspondent: Professor Tureen Afroz was awarded “Top 50 Women in Education Leaders” at the World Education Congress 2019 today in Mumbai, India. The Deputy High Commission for the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, at Mumbai received this award on her behalf, a press release said here today.

This award is given every year to the top 50 women academics of the world for making outstanding contribution in the field of education. A Jury comprising senior academics, researchers and professionals, from across the globe makes the final selection of the top 50 Women in Education Leaders.

Dr Afroz is currently a Professor at the Department of Law, East West University, Bangladesh. She has been teaching law in home and abroad for the last 19 years. She has previously taught law in Australia at the University of Western Sydney, NSW and Monash University, Victoria and in Bangladesh at BRAC University, Dhaka.

Professor Afroz has been educated in both law and economics in Bangladesh, India, the UK, Australia and the USA.

Since 2013 she has also been serving as a prosecutor at the International Crimes Tribunal, Bangladesh (ICT-BD). Her research works have been published in a number of reputed refereed journals and books.

Professor Afroz’s remarkable publication includes books titled, Trials of 1971 Bangladesh Genocide: Through a Legal Lens (Singapore: 2019); Genocide, War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity in Bangladesh: Trial under International Crimes (Tribunals) Act, 1973 (Dhaka: 2010) etc.
