Live Correspondent: Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni laid emphasis on developing values of students alongside imparting quality education to make them good human being. “We have taken different initiatives to build our children as worthy citizens of the country,” she made the comments while talking to journalists at the circuit house here.

Dr Dipu said the government has set a target of 30 percent enrolment in technical education by 2030 aiming to transform Bangladesh into an economically developed country. “In 2009, there was only one percent student enrolment in the technical education while the current enrolment is 17 percent,” she added.

“We are promoting knowledge-based education to develop skilled human resources to turn Bangladesh into a middle-income country. Education without skills will create a burden for the family as well as the nation,” the minister added.

“To maximize the benefit of using ICT in a classroom, we need a bunch of trained, motivated and technology-friendly teachers who will make the whole process effective and successful,” she said.

“The government has taken various ICT programmes to ensure quality of education. In a technology-based globalised world, quality education is crucial for any country. The government has realised the fact and executed its plans accordingly,” Dipu Moni added.

Deputy Commissioner of Chandpur Md Mazedur Rahman Khan, Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Nurul Islam Najim Dewan and Faridganj Upazila chairman Jahidul Islam Roman and officials of local administration, among others, were present on the occasion.
