Live Correspondent: National Museum of Science and Technology (NMST) for the first time arranged a science book reading competition on Monday. Some 50 students of three renowned schools of Dhaka – Milestone School and College, Sher-E-Bangla Nagar Govt Girls’ High School and Mission International School and College – have participated in the competition.

The NMST authority has presented all participants educational materials as souvenir. Besides, the museum authority also arranged itinerant science exhibition, science speech and quiz competition.

Addressing the event, NMST director general Muhammad Munir Chowdhury said, “The habit of reading books is disappearing due to internet addiction. Books open the door for knowledge and research. Students are lagging behind because of their unwillingness to read books.”

“Their writing skills and creativity are on the way to extinct. Students will be knowledge seekers and book lovers through this competition and they will construct Bangladesh in the future,” he added.

NMST Senior Curator and Director AKM Lutfor Rahman Siddik delivered the welcome speech in the function.
