No HSC exams this year

Live Correspondent: The government has cancelled the HSC and equivalent examinations this year to stop spread of coronavirus in the country. 

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni revealed the information through a virtual press conference on Wednesday.  

The results of HSC will be determined by evaluating the results of JSC and SSC examinations, said the minister.

Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Mahbub Hossain, Professor Ziaul Haque, chairman of Dhaka Education Board and chief of Inter-Education Board Coordination Subcommittee and Md.

Aminul Islam Khan, Secretary, Technical and Madrasah Education Division were present among others during this time. 

The HSC and equivalent examinations were scheduled to begin on April 1, but the government was forced to postpone it on March 22 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

All educational institutions were closed on March 16 to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The closure was extended until Oct 31 as there has been no marked improvement in the situation.
