Live Correspondent: Local people in Tejgaon area staged a demonstration on Saturday, protesting a plan of Akij Group to construct a specialised hospital amid growing concerns over the lack of logistics to detect and treat coronavirus patients in Bangladesh.

The enraged people also vandalised the construction site which left three people, including security and construction workers, injured.

Later, the protesters cleared the streets after about one and a half hours upon assurances from the local councillor and police that the construction work would stop.

Earlier in the morning, the group began the construction work on the company’s empty plot next to the factory of motorcycle makers TVS in Tejgaon.
