Civil surgeon dies from Covid-19 in the country

Live Correspondent: Feni Civil Surgeon Dr Md Sajjad Hossain is the country’s first civil surgeon who died from the novel coronavirus on Tuesday afternoon.

He was undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of the capital's Asgar Ali Hospital, a press release issued by Foundation for Doctors' Safety and Rights Responsibility (FDSR) says. Dr Sajjad was tested Covid-19 positive on June 12.

So far 63 doctors have died of Covid-19 in Bangladesh and eight more died with Covid-19 symptoms. Bangladesh confirmed 55 more deaths from the Covid-19 and 3,027 new cases of infection testing 13,173 samples on Tuesday.

With this, the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 2,151 and the number of total infections stood at 168,645.
