155 doctors have lost lives while serving Covid-19 patients so far

Live Correspondent: Some 155 physicians of the country died while serving coronavirus or Covid-19 patients in one and a half years since the pandemic began.

Besides, other health workers, including 12 nurses, died while doing their duties. These frontline health workers were infected with the disease while going to the hospitals. 

The government has so far given Tk 50 lakh to each of  six doctors' family. Talking to journalist, Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Secretary General Ehteshamul Huq Chowdhury said "Some 155 doctors have died so far while treating Covid-19 patients.

Besides, 112 other health workers, including nurses, died. These health workers have died while serving patients. Till date, the government has paid Tk 50 lakh as compensation to the families of six doctors, who died of Covid-19."
