Record 247 Covid deaths reported in Bangladesh in a day

Live Correspondent: Bangladesh on Monday witnessed the highest ever 247 deaths from novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours till 8:00 am.

It is the highest daily death toll from the deadly virus since the pandemic hit the country on March last year. The first coronavirus case was reported here on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18 the same year.
So far, the virus has claimed 19,521 lives in Bangladesh. Meanwhile, 15,192 virus cases were reported in the country, taking the total cases to 11,79,827.
Dhaka reported the most deaths and cases among the eight divisions in the last 24 hours with reporting 72 fatalities and 7,953 cases. Chattogram saw 61 deaths and 2,467 cases, Khulna 46 deaths and 1,186 cases, Rajshahi 21 deaths and 908 cases.
A total of 11,052 more people made recovery from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 10,09,923.
