Covid claims 52, infects 2,497 more in BD

Live Correspondent: Covid claimed lives of 52 more people and infected 2,497 in Bangladesh in 24 hours ending Wednesday morning. With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 26,736 and infections to 15,22,302 since the country had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 9.07 per cent. Among the deceased, 20 are male and 32 are female patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 27,528 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 789 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 91,46,371 samples as of September 8.

In the past 24 hours, 3,840 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 14,64,594.

In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 20 and Chattogram logged 15 deaths.
