Japan to expand entry ban to visitors from Bangladesh, India 9 other nations

 

Live Desk: Japan is expanding its entry ban to visitors from Bangladesh and 10 other nations as part of border control steps to control the outbreak of coronavirus. Japanese Foreign Ministry raised its travel advisory for the 11 countries.

The others countries are India, Afghanistan, Argentina, El Salvador, Ghana, Guinea, Kyrgyz, Tajikistan, Pakistan, and South Africa.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at a meeting said Japan will maintain the current set of border control measures until the end of June, without elaborating.

The expansion will take effect on Wednesday (May 27). With such bans, international travel to and from Japan has fallen by almost 99%.

There are 100 countries and regions already covered by the entry ban including the US, China and all of Europe.

Japan had imposed national emergency measures to battle the coronavirus, though this was lifted from most parts of the country.
