8238 companies default loan Tk 9, 69, 860.38 million

 

Live Correspondent: Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday made public the names of 8, 238 loan-defaulting companies of the country.

“Some 8,238 companies are loan defaulters,” he said while responding to a question from lawmaker Ahsanul Islam from Tangail-6 constituency in the national parliament.

“As per the Credit Information Bureau database till November 2019, the total loan default stood at Tk 9, 69, 860.38 million and those companies paid only Tk 258,360.04 million,” he said.

The day’s business began at about 3:00 pm with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair. Some loan defaulter companies are Rimex Footwear Ltd, Crescent Leather products Ltd, Rupali Composite Leather Wear Ltd, Rising Steel Mill Ltd, Mohammad Elias Brothers Pvt Ltd, SA Oil Refinery Ltd.

Samanaz Super Oil Ltd, Quantum Power System Ltd, Aloy Coat Ltd, Galaxy Suitwear and Yarn Dying, Build Trade Engineering Ltd, SK Steel, Bismillah Towel Ltd, Lamisa Spinning Ltd, Sonali Jute Mills Ltd, Habib Steels Ltd, MH Golden Jute Mills Ltd, MK Ship Builders and Steels Ltd, Amader Bari Ltd, Saad Musa Fabrics Ltd, Exper Take Ltd, Atlas Greenpac Ltd, Himalaya Paper and Board Mills Ltd, HRC Shipping Ltd, Peoples Leasing and Finance Services Ltd, RK Food Ltd, Ramisa Trading, Saif Powertek Ltd and Zainab Trading Co Ltd.

The minister on June 22 in 2019 also disclosed the names of some top 300 companies which had some Tk 50,9420 million outstanding. Top 10 loan defaulters are Samanaz Super Oil with Tk 1049 crore, Galaxy Sweater and Iron Dying with Tk 984 crore, Rimex Footwear with Tk 976 crore, Quantum Power System with Tk 828 crore, Mahin Enterprise with Tk 825 crore, Rupali Composite with Tk 798 crore, Crescent Leather Wear with Tk 776 crore, SA Oil Refinery with Tk 707 crore, Suprab Composite with Tk 610 crore and Grameen Shakti with Tk 601 crore.
