BD confirms 3,243 more coronavirus cases, 45 new deaths

Live Correspondent: Bangladesh reported 45 more deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours till Friday, taking the death toll in the country to 1,388. Of the new deceased, 32 are men while 13 are women.Besides, the confirmed coronavirus cases in the country have surged to 105,535 with the detection of 3,243 more infections during the period.

The downtick in the number of new infections follows a decrease in tests with 15,045, less by 1,214 than Thursday’s 16,259, being carried out in the last 24 hours. Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), came up with the disclosure in the daily online health bulletin in the afternoon.

She said 2,781 more patients recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the number of people making recovery to 42,945. Prof Nasima said 15,045 samples were tested in labs across the country during the period. With this, a total of 585,548 samples have so far been tested in the country.

In comparison with the tests conducted in the last 24 hours, the infection rate is 21.56 percent, she said.

The DGHS additional director general also said against the total number of detected cases, the recovery rate is 40.69 percent while the mortality rate is 1.32 percent.
On Thursday, Bangladesh recorded 38 deaths from coronavirus and 3,803 cases.

Meanwhile, the death toll from coronavirus has reached 456,284 around the world as of Friday morning.Besides, different countries have so far registered 8,578,055 coronavirus cases, according to Worldometer.

Of the currently infected 3,591,505 patients, 3,536,944 are in mild condition while 54,561 are in serious or critical condition. So far, 4,530,266 people have made recovery from the disease in different countries.

The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 2,263,651 and 120,688 respectively while Brazil is in the 2nd place with 983,359 cases and 47,869 deaths respectively.
