BD’s coronavirus cases jump by 3,360

Live Correspondent: Confirmed coronavirus cases in Bangladesh have reached 175,494 after the health authorities announced the detection of 3,360 more infections in the last 24 hours till Thursday. Besides, 41 more people succumbed to the virus during the period, taking the death fatalities in the country to 2,238.

Of the new deceased, 29 are men and 12 are women. Among the total dead, 1,770 are men 468 are women.

Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), came up with the information in the daily online health bulletin in the afternoon. She said 3,706 more patients recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the number of people making recovery to 84,544.

Prof Nasima said 15,632 samples were tested in 76 labs across the country during the period. With this, a total of 907,784 samples have so far been tested in the country.

In comparison with the tests conducted in the last 24 hours, the infection rate is 21.49 percent while the infection rate 19.40 against total tests carried out so far, she said.

The DGHS additional director general also said against the total number of detected cases, the recovery rate is 48.17 while the mortality rate is 1.28 percent.

On Wednesday, Bangladesh reported 46 deaths from coronavirus and 3,489 cases.Meanwhile, coronavirus has claimed the lives of 552,046 people around the globe as of Thursday morning. nBesides, confirmed coronavirus cases in different countries have jumped to 12,166,688, according to Worldometer.

Of the currently infected 4,549,870 patients, 4,491,551 are in mild condition while 58,319 are in serious or critical condition. So far, 7,064,772 people have made recovery from the disease in different countries.

The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 3,158,932 and 134,862 respectively while Brazil is in the 2nd position with 1,716,196 cases and 68,055 deaths.
