BD’s COVID-19 recovery tally breaches 1lakh-mark

Live Correspondent: The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients in Bangladesh increased to 54.31% as the country’s recovery tally cross 100,000-mark on Tuesday.
The number of Covid-19 recoveries also exceeded active cases for the first time in the country as 4,910 more people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours.
 
As of Tuesday, 190,057 people have so far infected with the virus in the country while it has only 84,406 active cases now due to sharp rise in recovery rate.
Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), came up with the information in the daily online health bulletin in the afternoon.
 
She said 4,910 more patients recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the number of people making recovery to 103,227.
 
The DGHS additional director general also said the recovery rate is 54.31 in the country while the mortality rate is 1.28 percent.
 
Nasima said the country registered 3,163 more coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, increasing the confirmed infections in the country to 190,057.
 
Besides, the death toll from the deadly virus has reached 2,424 with the deaths of 33 more people during the period. Of the new deceased, 23 are men and 10 are women. 
Among the total dead, 1,913 are men and 511 are women.
 
Prof Nasima said 13,453 samples were tested in 79 labs across the country during the period. With this, a total of 966,400 samples have so far been tested in the country.
 
In comparison with the tests conducted in the last 24 hours, the infection rate is 23.51 percent while the infection rate is 19.67 percent against total tests carried out so far, she said.
