Only prayer mats, umbrellas to be allowed

Live Correspondent: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Miah has said the devotees (musallis) would be allowed to enter the Jatiya Eidgah to offer prayers of Eid-ul-Fitr with only prayer mats (jainamaj) and umbrellas.

The DMP boss said this at a press conference after visiting the security measures at Jatiya Eidgah in the capital on Monday. 

“We have taken several steps for security in and around the Jatiya Eidgah in the capital and the musallis will be allowed to carry only prayer mats and umbrellas to enter the Jatiya Eidgah on the Eid day through three-time security checkup,” he said.

Monirul Islam, chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit, Sheikh Nazmul Alam, Joint Commissioner of DMP, Maruf Hossain and Deputy Commissioner of DMP (Ramna zone) were present among others during this time.
