Allama Ahmed Shafi passes away

Live Correspondent: The Hefajat chief will be buried on the premises of his Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Ulum Moinul Islam Madrasa in Hathazari upazila of Chattogram following a namaz-e-janazat at the madrsa at 2pm on Saturday.

Earlier, he was airlifted to Dhaka from Chattogram as his condition was critical. He fell ill on Thursday noon amid students’ movement at his madrasa.

Allama Ahmed Shafi was taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) at night.

A medical board formed for her treatment sat in a meeting on Friday morning which suggested sending him to Dhaka.

On July 20, the Hejafat chief, who had been suffering from old-age complications, including diabetes, and high blood pressure, was admitted to the CMCH. He was discharged on July 25.

Earlier on June 6, he was admitted to the same hospital with old-age complications.
He returned to Hathazari madrasa on June 16 after making recovery.
