Speakers emphasis on education to cope with global challenges

Live Correspondent: Speakers emphasised on education for global citizenship as well as to develop a sense of Internationalism among the young learners in order to cope with the global challenges and to reach the target of SDGs.

They made the call in a three-day long Virtual Global Summit on Education (December 27-29) titled’ Redefining Education with Innovation & Resilience’ ended on Tuesday bringing universal voices together to meet the global challenges.

The event was organised by GEIST International Foundation, Bangladesh in association with Nepal US Alumni Network (NUSAN), ADAMAS University Kolkata and Motherland Higher Secondary School, Nepal.

Around 300 educators from 42 countries under six continents of the world took part in the Summit. Some 73 professors made their presentations in different sessions of the summit.

The sessions include-  Looking Back-  Looking Forward: Session with University Students, Reorienting Science Teaching for Global Issues, Redefining Education with Innovation and Resilience, Workshop on American English, Best Practices in STEAM Education, Disruption in Learning Ecosystem: could it have been better, Understanding in Global Phenomena in Education, Digital divide in the Education of the ultra-poor, What will it take to recover the loss: Perspective of primary level of Teaching, Teaching-learning during the lockdown in hindsight and looking forward, Role of MIS in Education, How far I have come: Impacts of Pandemic on My Learning: Student-led session for the students.   

President GEIST International Foundation, Biplob Kumar Dev focused on developing communication and network among the teachers and students at home and abroad and their capacity development through the Summit during the pandemic situation in his inaugural speech.

Speakers noted in every session that students must have language efficiency, critical thinking, creativity and imagination, communication and collaboration, citizenship adaptability, employability, moral, social commitment, health, leadership, and digital literacy which are the major skills of learning in the present global context. 

Students must be taught multicultural values and diverse culture in the school. Multicultural education creates equity in education for all students, regardless of culture.

They also stated that pandemic not only deepened the crisis but also created huge opportunities for teaching-learning. Online education has huge advantages.
Online learning helps students to  learn, develop their faculty, and networking with national and international partners. 

Online study has created huge advantages as students are acquiring knowledge effectively and learning going beyond syllabuses and borders. It is also improving the technical and digital skills of the students.

Higher Education and exchange programs of teachers and students are also very important to create a sense of Internationalism and Globalization among the learners.
