Live Correspondent: Craving for celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr on the part of the city dwellers has seen final exodus. Plenty of people crossed Padma River using Shimulia-Banglabazar and Paturia-Daulatdia routes on Wednesday.

The country braces for another round of surge in Covid-19 cases following the unexpected crowd. Flouting restriction imposed by the government, the holidaymakers left Dhaka for village homes to celebrate the Eid with near and dear ones.

As hundreds of couples along with children flocked to the ghat waiting to board ferry standing still, the government permitted operation of the vehicle carrying water vessel.

In utter peculiarity, people are boarding ferries which are used for carrying passenger buses and goods-laden trucks. Experts cautioned that waiting of homebound people at ferry ghat may result in wailing.
