Formation of commission to unmask masterminds of killers of Bangabandhu
Live Correspondent: Leaders of the ruling Awami League today stressed the need for forming a commission to uncover the faces of those who patronised the killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four national leaders.
“By forming a commission, the people who patronised the killers of Bangabandhu and four national leaders must be found out so that such killings do not recur in the future,” they told a discussion in the capital.
The discussion was arranged at the auditorium of Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB), marking the Jail Killing Day.
Chaired by Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the meeting was conducted by Information Minister and AL Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud and Deputy Publicity and Publication Secretary Aminul Islam Amin.
Awami League Advisory Council Members Amir Hossain Amu and Tofail Ahmed, Presidium Members Mohammad Nasim, Abdul Matin Khasru and Adv Sahara Khatun, Joint General Secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif and Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Organising Secretary Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Towfel, central committee members Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury and Anwar Hossain, president of Dhaka South City Unit of AL AKM Rahmatullah, its general secretary Shahe Alam Murad and novelist Anisul Hoque were, among others, present at the discussion.
The speakers said people will remember the contribution of Bangabandhu and the four national leaders to the country forever, and observed that the vacuum created in the country after their killings could not be fulfilled even in the next 1,000 years.
Intriguers are still out to create political vacuum in the country, he said, adding but the country is advancing fast under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by resisting all the plots.
In the early hours of November 3, 1975, the killers of Bangabandhu stormed into Dhaka Central Jail and killed four national leaders Tajuddin Ahmed, Syed Nazrul Islam, Captain Monsur Ali and AHM Kamruzzaman who led the Liberation War in absence of Bangabandhu in 1971 and earned independence for the nation.
