PM to inaugurate Bangabandhu’s birth centenary countdown

Live Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the countdown for the observance of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary at the National Parade Ground (old airport) in city’s Tejgaon area on January 10, 2020 where Bangabandhu landed in the freshly liberated and sovereign Bangladesh on January 10, 1972.

Through the inauguration, the countdown will begin simultaneously in every district, upazila and all public gathering places across the country.

It revealed today while Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam and Chief Coordinator of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury visited the Manik Miah Avenue, in front of the Jatiya Sangsad, in the city for setting up a big countdown device.

After visiting the Manik Miah Avenue, they also visited Hatirjheel and Uttara areas for selecting places for setting up countdown devices.

In his speech, Atiqul Islam said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the countdown on January 10, 2020 for the celebration of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary from March 17, 2020 to March 17, 2021.

“DNCC will set up the devices in front of Jatiya Sangsad, Hatirjheel and Uttara areas. If necessary, the city corporation will also set up more devices,” he added.

Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury said a big device for the countdown will be set up in front of the Jatiya Sangsad and all necessary information of Bangabandhu will be presented through power point presentation so that people can gather knowledge about Bangabandhu and the Liberation War.

“We will start the countdown from January 10 as it is a historic day when Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Raham returned to the sacred soil of independent Bangladesh via London and New Delhi,” he added. He said the whole nation is waiting for the historic moment and so, everybody is working to successfully celebrate the Mujib Year.
