Dr Kamal siphons off money from country

 

Live Correspondent: Ganoforum president Dr Kamal Hossain has been described as a 'mysterious man' by Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader.

"When Bangabandhu was arrested in 1971 by the Pakistani forces, Dr. Kamal Hossain got down from his car and the Intercontinental Hotel. Just after it, he got vanished. Then we learned that he went to Pakistan. He later became the foreign minister at the mercy of Bangabandhu."

Quader made the remarks while speaking at the joint conference of Dhaka City North and South Chhatra League at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Friday (December 2).

The AL general secretary said: "Dr. Kamal Hossain has now opened up his mouth. He now talks about siphoning off the money of others. But, he has whitened black money evading taxes. Dr. Kamal himself also siphoned off a huge amount of money.

He also laundered money through his Jewish son-in-law. He doesn't utter a single word of siphoning off the money Tareque Rahman. He is now saying that the government has started siphoning off money as part of its preparation to leave the country."

The AL general secretary said, "Tareque Rahman siphoned off money to Singapore. We will play a game against this money laundering. Those who are still siphoning off the money will face serious consequences. Sheikh Hasina will not show any mercy to any money launderer."

Obaidul Quader said, "You (BNP) have been accorded permission to hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan. But, you don't like that venue. You don't like the place where the Pakistani forces surrendered though annihilation of intellectuals had begun on December 10 [of 1971]."

He said, "We told you that there would not be any transport strike. Leaders of transport owners and workers have accepted our request. But, if you try to create any indiscipline and chaos in the name of rally, or resort to any kind of violence, the AL leaders and workers along with people will give you a befitting reply."

Referring to the BNP, Quader said, "We have information that they put militants on the field. We have information that a huge amount of money is coming from Dubai."

Presided over by Dhaka City North Chhatra League president Ibrahim Hossain, the conference was also addressed by AL presidium members Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, joint general secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, organizing secretary BM Mozammel Huque, office secretary Barrister Biplob Barua, and Dhaka City North Awami League president Sheikh Bazlur Rahman, among others.
