Live Correspondent: The second batch of Chinese medical supplies for Bangladesh to battle the coronavirus pandemic have reached Dhaka on Thursday afternoon.
The supply arrived in Dhaka from Kunming, China, through a special aircraft of the Chinese government at around 4:30 pm, Chinese deputy ambassador in Dhaka said.
Chinese Anbassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming handed over the supplies to the Directorate General of Health Services Professor Dr Abul Kalam Azad.
The supply includes 10,000 test kits, 10,000 PPE, 15,000 masks and 1000 infrared thermometers. In its first batch of supplies provided to Bangladesh, China had sent 500 most advanced medical kits to detect the coronavirus infection.
On March 17, the Chinese embassy in Dhaka said in a statement: “China has decided to donate emergency anti-epidemic medical supplies, including a large number of test kits, to Bangladesh. In curbing the epidemic, China has always been and will be the most reliable partner of Bangladesh.”
Earlier, the Bangladesh government sent some medical equipment, including masks, to China during the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhai City of Hubei province.
