Live Correspondent: Confirmed coronavirus infections in Bangladesh have risen to 149,258 with the detection of 3,775 more cases in the last 24 hours till Wednesday.Besides, 41 more Covid-19 patients lost their battle against the deadly contagious virus during the period to take the total casualties in the country to 1,888.
Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), came up with the information in the daily online health bulletin in the afternoon. She said 2,484 more patients recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the number of people making recovery to 62,108.
Prof Nasima said 17,875 samples were tested in 65 labs across the country during the period. With this, a total of 787,335samples have so far been tested in the country.
In comparison with the tests conducted in the last 24 hours, the infection rate is 21.12 percent while the infection rate 19.03 against total tests carried out so far, she said.
The DGHS additional director general also said against the total number of detected cases, the recovery rate is 41.61 while the mortality rate is 1.26 percent.
On Tuesday, Bangladesh reported record 64 deaths from coronavirus and 3,682 cases.
Meanwhile, coronavirus cases have soared to 10,585,641 around the world as of Wednesday morning.
Besides, the virus has so far claimed the lives of 513,913 people globally, according to Worldometer. Of the currently infected 4,276,076 patients, 4,218,288 are in mild condition while 57,788 are in serious or critical condition.
So far, 5,795,652 people have made recovery from the disease in different countries. The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 2,727,853 and 130,122 respectively while Brazil is in the 2nd position with 1,408,485 cases and 59,656 deaths.
