10/23/2021 Azimpur Girls School principal suspended for 'unclean room'
Live Correspondent: Azimpur Government Girls School and College principal was suspended on Sunday for keeping a room 'unclean.' During a visit to the Azimpur Government Girls School and College in Dhaka, Education Minister Dipu Moni suspended its principal and the supervising official of the monitoring team for 'unclean room.'
Talking to reporters, she said the education ministry would conduct "surprise visits" to educational institutions and strict actions will be taken in cases of non-compliance of health rules.
"Today's visit to this school was scheduled. But, we will make surprise visits regularly. No one will be spared when it comes to ensuring health and hygiene rules, either teachers or education department officials," she said.
The minister said dengue was also a matter of concern amid the coronavirus pandemic.
"Everyone seems excited to be back to the classes… Dengue spreads in daytime as students spend that time in schools, the parents should be conscious. The students should wear full sleeve clothes and socks," said Dipu Moni.
She asked parents and guardians to be more aware and help with social surveillance without disrupting the academic activities or gathering in front of the schools.
Dipu Moni requested guardians not to gather outside the gates of educational institutions during class time.
"We have to live with coronavirus for a long time. We think it is appropriate to reopen schools now. If we see infections increasing, we will return to the way it was before," she added.
“We found one of the rooms unclean,” said Prof Syed Md Golam Faruk, director general of Secondary and Higher Education, who accompanied Dipu Moni during the inspection. "First we will ask the principal for an official explanation."
Hasibur Rahman, suspended principal of the school, said the education minister was "disturbed after she saw the inside of a store room during the inspection."
"At the time, I didn't get the chance to mention that it was just a store room. I only have about 15 days left on the job. Only they can say what they will do now. The honourable DG said they will ask for my explanation first."
