04/30/2024 CUB ranks 44th globally on 4th Industrial Revolution Project

Live Correspondent: Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) has been in the top 50 of World Universities with Real Impact (WURI) 2022. CUB has secured the 44th position in the WURI Ranking 2022 in the ‘Top Fifty-Fourth Industrial Revolution’ category. In this category, Harvard University in the United States is the 21st and the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom the 49th.
The Canadian University of Bangladesh is between 201 and 300 in this ranking considering all universities in the world as a whole.
The Canadian University of Bangladesh’s Department of Shipping and Maritime Science has been included by WURI among the top 50 in the ‘Top Fifty-Fourth Industrial Revolution’ category considering the importance and impact of its innovative projects.
According to the CUB, research on ‘Autonomous Maritime Autopilot’ is going on under the supervision of the ‘Autonomous Vessel’ research cell run by the teachers of the University’s Department of Shipping and Maritime Science.
The aim of this ‘Autonomous Maritime Autopilot’ is to modernise the autopilot system used for steering control of ships.
Dr Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat, Founder & Chairman, Board of Trustees of CUB, congratulated the Canadian University of Bangladesh on this global recognition.
In a message, he said, ‘The Canadian University of Bangladesh is always committed to creating world-class educational opportunities. For this, everyone associated with this organisation is making relentless efforts.
“We engage students in innovative projects and activities besides ensuring world-class education. These projects have multifaceted implications at national and international levels. WURI has honoured our efforts with global recognition of one such project.”
A related department was launched in CUB under the guidance of Dr Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat for the expansion of shipping and maritime science education in the country. Currently, two programmes are running in this department namely ‘Bachelor in Shipping and Maritime Science’ and ‘Masters in Transportation and Logistics.
The Canadian University of Bangladesh is the first in the country to introduce these two programmes. Zakir Hossain is the head of the department. Other teachers are Mohammad Tamim Hossain Azmi, Tapas Bhowmik, Barnali Rahman, Kaviul Islam and Ahmadul Haque Ani.
