NSU Live: The first private university and the number one ranked private university of Bangladesh, North South University (NSU) in collaboration with Career and Placement Center (CPC), NSU organized two-days long “National Career Fair 2019” on 29 November it has been inaugurated.
About more than a hundred twenty various Corporate Organizations, NGOs, Multinational Companies, Telecoms, RMGs, Beverage, Electronics, Travel and Tourism, Software Companies, Banks, Financial Institutions, Non-Profit Organizations, Pharmaceuticals, HR Professional Training Institutes, Companies from China and Japan participated in the fair.
This Career Fair was served as a platform for direct communication with the leading companies in various sectors of the country in the development and preparation of careers for the students of all public and private universities and educational institutions of the country.
The fair included on-campus recruitment as well as various training and seminars on career development and preparation. Besides, several sessions held with businessmen and industry experts from different fields, which will help the students in career development and preparation.
Dr. Hasan Mahmud, MP, Minister, Ministry of Information, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was present as the Chief Guest at the inaugural session. Professor Dr. Kazi Shahidullah, Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh and Freedom Fighter Lion Mr. Benajir Ahmed, Chairman, Board of Trustees, North South University, were present as Special Guests. Professor Atiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor, NSU, chaired the session.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Dr. Hasan Mahmud said, A job fair is a great opportunity for both the job seekers and the employers where the job seekers get the opportunity to find a job and the companies from home and abroad get the opportunity to find competent employees in most cost-efficient ways.
He thanked the Trustee board members, teachers and staffs of North South University for providing world-class education in Bangladesh. He advised the students to utilize the world-class facilities which NSU is providing to its students to build a bright career.
Speaking as the Special Guest, Professor Dr. Kazi Shahidullah said, Job fair works as a bridge to connect the job seekers and job providers under one roof. He mentioned, one of the key weaknesses in higher educational institutions of our country is not to have enough collaboration with relevant employers and industries to offer employment for graduates.
A job fair can solve this problem effectively. During this time, he expressed high satisfaction observing the facilities available in NSU to provide world-class education. He thanked the NSU authority for arranging such a big job fair for all the students of the country.
Speaking as the Special Guest, Mr. Benajir Ahmed said, One of the key elements to consider for providing higher education is to produce graduate meeting the demand of the employers, that’s why we are organizing Career Fair every year so that we can understand the need of our employers and we can build our graduate accordingly.
During this time, he mentioned, NSU has ranked within 300 among 48,000 universities in the QS Asia World Ranking 2020 and NSU authority is working tirelessly to place itself within the top 100 universities in Asia within short time.
Vice-Chancellor of NSU, Professor Atiqul Islam said, It is said that students come to university for a better job. An efficient employment market is an absolute precondition for the development of a country for efficient use of resources that a country has.
Market efficiency depends on information, information available to job seekers about employers and information available to employers about job seekers. The main purpose of arranging this job fair is to bring the job seekers and job providers under one roof so that they both can interact and exchange views to reduce the information gap in the employment market.
Among others, Mr. M. A. Hashem, Mr. M. A. Kashem, Mr. Md. Shajahan, Mr. Azim Uddin Ahmed and Ms. Yasmin Kamal, Members, Board of Trustees, North South University, Professor Dr. M. Ismail Hossain, Pro-Vice Chancellor of NSU, Professor Mohammad Khasro Miah, Director, Career and Placement Center (CPC) of NSU, Deans of different schools, Directors of various departments, Department Heads, Senior officials, Teachers, Delegates and a large number of students were also present at the inauguration.
Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Friday said the conventional threat of BNP over waging a movement against the government has become a ridiculous one.
“BNP leaders issued threat of waging movement many times in the last 10 years. They do not abide by laws and even do not expect the verdict of courts,” he said while addressing the inaugural session of the two-day national career fair-2019 at North South University in the capital.
Speaking as the chief guest, Hasan said the release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is a matter of court. If the court grants her bail, Khaleda would be released, and there is no alternative to it, he said.
Hasan, also Awami League publicity and publication secretary, said the country’s judiciary is now totally independent, but it was not independent during the era of BNP.
As the judiciary is enjoying full freedom, many lawmakers and leaders of ruling Awami League have already landed in jail, he said.
Highlighting the overall success of the AL government, Hasan said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is the architect of Bangladesh’s development.
Noting that Bangladesh witnessed a tremendous development in the last 10 years, he said Bangladesh is now a role model of development across the world.
The information minister said building a developed nation is an urgent to build a developed country and Bangladesh is marching forward under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“Bangladesh has achieved sufficiency in food…the country has already attained the status of a middle income state. It will be a digital country by 2021 and a developed one by 2041. And the government is working sincerely to achieve the goals,” he said.
Mentioning that education is the backbone of a nation, Hasan said the young generation is the tool of the country and they must be built with proper education as they will lead the country in the future.
Chaired by North South University Vice-Chancellor Prof Atique Islam, the inaugural session of the fair was addressed, among others, by University Grants Commission chairman Prof Dr Kazi Shahidullah and North South University chairman Benajir Ahmed.
Later, Dr Hasan formally inaugurated the career fair.
