The contribution of NSU in the expansion of higher education

NSU Live: North South University is one of the leading and number one ranked first private university among all the private universities in Bangladesh. There are a number of activities going on at North South University during the global pandemic Covid-19. Notable among them are mentioned bellow:

As a non-profit educational institution in the field of higher education in Bangladesh,North South University has always extended a helping hand to the needs of the students.

It is to be noted that, 1300 children of the brave freedom fighters of 1971 have been given the opportunity to study at NSU without any fees.

Special consideration has been given to provide scholarship to the students of NSU who lost their parents for Corona pandemic.

Since the establishment of this university, it has provided financial assistance of 150 core taka to the students till date. Approximately 17 core taka has been provided as scholarship to meritorious and poor students in this year.

It is worth mention that:

In the relief fund of the Honorable Prime Minister, North South University staffs have donated 2days of their salary amounting to 50 Lacs taka.

Another cash contribution of Taka 50 lacs has been prepared and awaiting for handover to the PM’s Relief funds.

10 doctors of North South University are providing medical services without any payment at ShasthyaBatayan run by the government of Bangladesh.

In addition, a good number of students from North South University are volunteering in health care activities at the Department of Health since the beginning of the Corona pandemic.

Few students of North South University are working in IEDCR as volunteers.

NSU provided Covid-19 testing machine (PCR) to the Health Department of the Government of Bangladesh to fight against the pandemic.

We have distributed 11000 bags of relief material through the Bangladesh Army and Police to the distressed families during the pandemic.

It is to be noted that, in the last summer 2020 semester, a significant amount of fee was waived considering the overall situation of the students.
Considering the overall situation,the Honorable Chairman and members of the Board of Trustees of North South University have decided to waive the student’s activity fee (library fee, computer lab fee and other fees) and partial waiver of tuition fee which is in total equal to 20% of current semester (Fall-2020) fees.

North South University authority hopes that with this announcement, students will be able to focus on their academic activities, taking into account the issues outlined above.

North South University wishes success to the students and seeks sincere cooperation of all in this regard.
