Live Correspondent: Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to issue a directive to prepare unique identity numbers to bring all the private university students of the country under vaccination program.

All the private universities will be given directives in this regard soon. The decision has been taken at a meeting chaired by UGC's full-time member Prof Dr. Biswajit Chanda recently.

The meeting decided to issue a directive to the authorities of private universities asking to take effective measures in preparing unique identity numbers so that students who don't have NID cards could be brought under the vaccination program.

It may be mentioned that the database of private university students who have national identity cards (NIDs) has already been sent to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The meeting also decided to direct the private university authorities to conduct all the activities including admission of new students on the basis of unique identity numbers.

The private universities will have to send the students' database to the UGC in a stipulated timeframe by preparing their students' unique identity numbers. Receiving the database of unique identity numbers, the UGC will then take necessary measures for vaccinating the students.
