4th Convocation of Bangladesh University of Business & Technology
Live Correspondent: The 4th Convocation of Bangladesh University of Business & Technology (BUBT) was held on Thursday October 10, 2019 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center, Dhaka. Hon’ble Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, MP awarded degrees and gold medals to students as the chair of the convocation on behalf of His Excellency the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh & Chancellor of the university.
While addressing the ceremony Dipu Moni said that Bangladesh is the role model in global development. "We successfully achieved targets of Millenium Development Goals (MDG) and we are working to implement targets of Sustainable Development Goals. To continue this developing trend quality education is essential and government has given topmost priority in this. The government is working to expand higher education and also working to make education accessible to all.
” “It is possible to achieve desired demographic dividend if proper investment is done to develop human resources" she added. She called upon academicians to ensure coordination in academia and demands with various industries so that graduates can prepare themselves to face challenges of 4th Industrial Revolution. She also expressed her deep concern on ragging or bullying at campuses. Congratulating the graduates, she said “you are the main driving force to implement PM Sheikh Hasina's vision 2041.”
Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Professor Dr. Kazi Shahidullah attended the session as the Special Guest. He said that private university is now a reality. They play a good role in our higher education. He said to graduating students, “Education should not be limited to seeking employment rather learning should be expanded to make skilled and knowledgeable society. Be prepared to take the challenge of real life. It starts from today”.
Dr. Alastair Dawson, Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor and Vice President, Central Queensland University, Australia was the Convocation Speaker. He said, “Never stop learning, seek wisdom from where you can find it, share what you know with others. And above all, be kind to your fellow citizens”. He also said, “Your education journey doesn’t end with your graduation here today.” “In fact, this graduation ceremony represents the starting guide-not the finish line”.
With the help of Registrar and four deans of BUBT, about three thousand and one hundred ninety two students were awarded graduation and post-graduation certificates, while five highly meritorious students were awarded gold medals.
Professor Dr. Shafique Ahmed Siddique, Chairman, BUBT Trust addressed the graduating students. He said, “Don’t be trapped into militancy and drugs. Become good citizens for yourself and for the country. Bangladesh is doing well in its GDP, so, your graduation time is really better. You have many job offers at home and abroad”.
Professor Md. Abu Saleh, Vice Chancellor of BUBT delivered the welcome speech. BUBT obeys the rules of the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Education. It has the MoU with Central Queensland University, Australia. And it is now a brand. He said to the graduates, “This degree is the best achievement in your life. We wish your success”.
In the concluding part, a fascinating cultural show was presented by the artists including Razib and Kona.
Members of the BUBT Trust, Syndicate and the Academic Council, Treasurer, Advisor, Student Affairs, Director of Research Center and other Directors, Controller of Examinations, Joint Registrar, Joint Director (AC), Chairmen of different departments, Faculty members, Officers, graduating students of the university and distinguished guests including officers of the UGC and MoE were present at the ceremony.
