UGC urges to speed up online class at public varsities

Live Correspondent: University Grants Commission (UGC) on Thursday urged the vice-chancellors of the country’s all public universities to speed up the online classes amid the covid-19 pandemic.

The regulatory body also asked the VCs to increase participations of the students at the online classes to get more benefits of the remote learning. UGC came up with the calls at a view-exchange meeting with VCs of the public universities regarding online classes of the higher educational institutes amid the coronavirus.

UGC Chairman Prof Kazi Shahidullah presided over the meeting where the vice-chancellors also informed the commission that they will take a decision regarding public university admission after holding a meeting of the university VCs on Saturday.

VCs also gave opinion for not opening the universities right now amid the covid-19 pandemic and they also said the opening of the university halls will be suicidal.

UGC Chairman said “We should take a final decision soon regarding the public university admission. He also stressed for speed up the online classes.” UGC members, VCs of 46 public universities took part at the virtual meeting.
