RU celebrates 68th founding anniversary

 

RU Live: Rajshahi University celebrated its 68th founding anniversary on Tuesday in a minimal manner due to ongoing restrictions imposed in the country to contain the spread of Covid-19.

Acting RU vice-chancellor Ananda Kumar Saha inaugurated the celebration in front of the university administrative building by hoisting the national and university flags and releasing pigeons. Later, he planted trees at the university IBA Chattar.

RU pro-vice-chancellor Professor Choudhury M Zakaria, treasurer Professor A. K. M. Mostafizur Rahman, registrar Professor Abdus Salam, public relations office administrator Professor Md. Ajijic Rahman was also present during the occasion.

Moreover, an online discussion meeting was held, which was broadcast live on Facebook of the university. RU VC Professor Ananda Kumar Saha was addressed as the chief guest in the discussion meeting while prominent economist and Rabindra researcher Professor Sanat Kumar Saha addressed the meeting as the key speaker.

Rajshahi University started its journey with only six departments, 20 professors, and 161 students on July 06 in 1953. At present, the university has 12 faculties, 58 departments, 6 institutes, 121 teachers, 38,300 students, 17 dormitories, and 6 higher research bureaus and centers.
