"Quality education vital to make students worthy citizens"

KEUT Live: Terming education as service not business, academics experts urged the authorities of higher seats of learning including university to provide quality education to make the students competent for global employment market.

They came up with the observation while addressing a daylong workshop styled “Role, Responsibility and Ethical Principles of University Teacher,” at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) here yesterday (Saturday).

Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Bangladesh organized the workshop in association with KUET. Day-long workshop was held at 9.00am at distance learning theatre of science building in KUET.

Stakeholders from different organizations attended the workshop, which created awareness amongst them to gain their support to develop a unified Bangladesh Qualification Framework.

Acting Vice-chancellor of KUET Prof Dr. Kazi Hamidul Bari addressed as the chief guest while additional director of IQAC Prof Dr Mohammad Mahbub Hasan presided over the function. Dr. Basudev Chandra Ghosh, Prof Dr A N M Mizanur Rahman, IQAC Director Prof Dr. K M Azharul Hasan, also spoke on the occasion in the workshop.

Highlighted the importance of quality education, speakers said, Bangladesh is need of a unified qualification framework to facilitate lifelong learning by opening up access, attracting investment and recognizing non-formal and informal learning.

They said that uniform and harmonised framework can ensure the standard and quality in the country’ existing multi-pronged education system.
