Two JCD activists injured in BCL attack on DU campus

 

DU Live:  Activists of the Bangladesh Chhatra League, the students’ organisation of the ruling Awami League, on Tuesday allegedly attacked two activists of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the students’ wing of the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party, at the Teacher-Student Centre premises on Dhaka University campus.

The victims are Mahmudul Hasan of 2016-17 session of Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall and Zubair Ali of 2017-18 session of Kabi Jasim Uddin Hall.

leaders said that Mahmudul and Zubair were injured during the attack at about 1:30pm. The victims were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.

JCD Dhaka University unit general secretary Ariful Islam claimed that Chhatra League Dhaka University unit general secretary Tanvir Hasan Shaikat ordered his fellows to attack them.

‘Chhatra League activists attacked two of our activists on TSC premises and, later, they were rushed to DMCH. DU Chhatra League General Secretary Tanvir Hasan Shaikat ordered this attack. We strongly condemn and protest against the attack and act of terrorism,’ he said.

Denying the allegation of attack, BCL DU unit General Secretary Tanvir Hasan Shaikat said, ‘we do not practice such kind of politics.’

‘I doubt whether this attack happened at all. If the Chhatra Dal makes any complaint, everyone has doubts about it,’ he added.
